Krugerrands Pequenos
Krugerrand gold coins and other older South African coins are a favourite with investment portfolios due to the high gold value and collectibility factor. Below we have a range of fractional Krugerrands, smaller than 1 ounce, as well as older Rand coins.
These coins are all 22-carat and minted in South Africa; one of the most prolific gold mining nations in the last 150 years.
Introduced by the South African Mint in 1967, they quickly became a No.1 choice for investors and accounted for 90% of the global gold market in 1980 due to its success as a vehicle of wealth backed with rich history. Its demand had inspired other international mints to issue gold bullion of their own.
Named after First President Paul Kruger, a four term president of the old South African Republic, he features on the obverse side of the gold coin. The reverse image features the springbok, a national symbol of South Africa.
Since 1980, Krugerrands have become available in three additional smaller sizes 1/10 oz, 1/4 oz and 1/2 oz.
The 2017 Krugerrand marks the 50th year of issuance from the South African Mint and is highly sought after.
